Recently, a family of three, including a young child, has become the initial group to enter the UK under an agreement with France that operates on a “one-in, one-out” basis.
In efforts to deter individuals from undertaking perilous Channel crossings in small boats, the UK and France collaborated to establish a lawful pathway for asylum seekers. As per the agreement, the first migrants have been sent back to France.
The Home Office emphasized that this action marks a crucial early phase of the arrangement as four individuals have already been repatriated from the UK.
A representative stated, “Sending a strong message to criminal networks involved in people smuggling, unauthorized entry into the UK will not be condoned.
“We will persist in detaining and repatriating those arriving via small boats and collaborating with France to facilitate a legal route for an equivalent number of eligible migrants coming to the UK, subject to stringent security screenings.”
