Denmark’s Aalborg Airport has been forced to cease operations as a result of drone activity in its airspace, according to authorities. This incident follows a recent closure of Copenhagen Airport due to drone sightings, causing significant disruptions on Monday evening. Reports indicate that up to three autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were identified in the airspace above Aalborg Airport, prompting a swift police response.

As a consequence of the airport closure, several flights have had to divert to alternate airports. Flightradar confirmed the situation, stating, “Aalborg Airport is presently closed due to drone presence in the airspace, resulting in the diversion of three inbound flights to other airports.”

This occurrence occurred shortly after a cyber attack led to disturbances at Heathrow Airport and other major European airports last week. Flight cancellations and delays persisted over the weekend, with some airports still grappling with the repercussions this week.

Furthermore, Oslo airport in Norway also experienced a temporary airspace closure for three hours following a drone sighting. Denmark’s prime minister raised concerns about potential Russian involvement in the drone incidents.

Aalborg Airport officials reported that several incoming and outgoing flights were affected, including two SAS flights, one Norwegian flight, and one KLM flight. Nordjyllands Police confirmed the drone activity near Aalborg Airport, leading to the closure of the airspace for safety reasons.

In summary, Denmark’s Aalborg Airport faced closure after drones were detected in its airspace, causing operational challenges and disruptions.
