Tommy Fleetwood expressed his readiness to shine at the upcoming Ryder Cup, stating that the team environment of Team Europe will bring out the best in him. Fleetwood, a member of Luke Donald’s team, will join renowned players such as Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, and Matt Fitzpatrick at Bethpage Black.

Golf is commonly seen as a solitary sport due to its individual nature, where players mainly rely on their coaches and caddies for support during tournaments. However, the Ryder Cup, based on a team structure, offers a unique opportunity for players to stand united both on and off the course, fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual encouragement.

During a press conference, Fleetwood emphasized the significance of belonging to a team, highlighting the rich history and legacy associated with Team Europe. He acknowledged the privilege of carrying on this legacy together with his teammates, support staff, and captain, emphasizing how the collective support motivates each player to strive for excellence.

Fleetwood’s morale is high going into the Ryder Cup following his recent victory at the Tour Championship, where he secured his first PGA Tour title. While relishing this personal achievement, his focus is now on defending Team Europe’s title at the upcoming event at Bethpage Black.

As Fleetwood prepares for the Ryder Cup, he is aware of the formidable competition posed by Team USA, led by prominent players like Bryson DeChambeau, Scottie Scheffler, and Xander Schauffele. The stage is set for an exciting showdown between the two talented teams at Bethpage Black, with the tournament commencing on Friday, 26 September.
