Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Brendan Cole has expressed a differing opinion from Craig Revel Horwood’s recent remarks regarding the potential winner of this year’s competition. Following the revelation of the celebrity-professional pairings last weekend, viewers caught a glimpse of the stars showcasing their dance moves before the live shows.
During the launch show, Craig Revel Horwood stated his views on the dancing duos, suggesting that he could predict who might not emerge as the winner but acknowledging the strong female contenders in the competition so far.
In response to Craig’s assessment, Brendan, in collaboration with Sky Vegas, expressed his disagreement, particularly regarding the perceived strength of the female dancers. He highlighted other contestants like Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (Nitro) and Lewis Cope, who are currently favored by bookmakers.
Brendan emphasized that success on the show often hinges more on personalities and narratives than pure dancing ability, citing past examples like Chris McCausland. He emphasized that while the best dancer may reach the final, winning often depends on the overall package of talent and charisma.
Offering further insights on the pairings, Brendan revealed his reservations about Karen Carney being matched with Carlos Gu, suggesting that a different partner might have complemented her personality better.
Meanwhile, Nikita faced an unexpected turn of events when his dance partner, Dani Dyer, withdrew from the competition due to an ankle fracture sustained during rehearsals. Dani expressed her disappointment at having to leave the show but pledged to support the remaining couples closely.
Dani has since been replaced by Amber Davies, another Love Island winner, to continue competing on Strictly Come Dancing. The show airs tonight at 6.55pm on BBC One.
