Shirley Ballas recently shared her experience of struggling through a challenging phase in her life when she felt isolated with no one to confide in until a significant revelation occurred. The renowned head judge of Strictly Come Dancing appeared on This Morning to discuss the profound impact the menopause had on her well-being. She expressed how the lack of support during this period left her feeling distressed and alone, eventually leading her to confide in her son for solace.

Reflecting on her mother’s ease during menopause, Shirley highlighted how the topic was once deemed taboo, leaving her unprepared for the emotional and physical toll it took on her. Living far away from her mother at the time further compounded her feelings of isolation. Menopause typically occurs between ages 45-55, resulting from decreased hormone levels and can manifest with a range of symptoms like anxiety, hot flashes, and sleep disturbances.

The menopausal symptoms took a toll on Shirley’s mental well-being, impacting her role as a dance teacher as she grappled with feeling misunderstood and alone in her struggles. A pivotal moment came when a colleague, Wrangel, confronted her about her changed demeanor, prompting her to seek medical advice. Subsequently, Shirley turned to bioidentical hormones, derived from plant sources and mimicking the body’s natural hormone processes, transforming her life positively.

Shirley emphasized the importance of hormone balance in overcoming the darkness she faced, stressing the need for regular checks to ensure her well-being. Now back on screen as the head judge on Strictly Come Dancing, Shirley’s journey serves as a reminder of the challenges women may encounter during menopause and the significance of seeking appropriate support and medical guidance.
