Police are currently conducting an urgent search for a sailor who has gone missing off the coast of the UK. Guy Nelson, a resident of Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, was last spotted sailing near Drake’s Island, situated off the Plymouth coast in Devon, on September 8.
The 57-year-old was captured on CCTV in St Dominick, Cornwall, on September 5, just a few days before his disappearance. It is believed that he set off on a sailing expedition along the Cornish and Devon shores in his boat, named Swallow, from Plymouth.
Described as a Caucasian male, standing at 5 feet 10 inches with a medium build, Guy has short curly brown hair and brown eyes. Devon and Cornwall Police mentioned that the sailor frequently wears glasses, a black T-shirt, and jeans.
A police spokesperson expressed concern for Guy Nelson’s well-being and shared an updated photo of him, emphasizing that his last known location was in or around the Drake’s Island vicinity of Plymouth on September 8.
The spokesperson further added, “Guy had been navigating around Cornwall and Devon on his vessel, Swallow, with plans to sail along the coast from Plymouth; however, no communication has been received from him since.”
“He was previously sighted in St Dominick, Cornwall, where the recent photo was captured on September 5. Guy does not have any known connections to Devon and Cornwall apart from his sailing activities in the region.”
Authorities are appealing to the public for any information regarding Guy’s whereabouts and are encouraging individuals who have seen him to contact 999, quoting log 852.
