Lewis Hamilton is working on a TV show concept and a couple of animated films as part of his expanding involvement with his production company, Dawn Apollo Films. The seven-time world champion played a key role in bringing the blockbuster F1 movie to theaters.
Hamilton’s interest in creative projects beyond his racing career is widely recognized. The 40-year-old, with a longstanding passion for music production, is now leaving his mark in the film industry, with the F1 movie being his significant debut contribution.
The venture turned out to be a massive success, grossing £479 million ($629 million) globally, making F1: The Movie the highest-earning sports film ever, surpassing Pixar’s Cars 2 in the process.
In an interview with The Ferrari Magazine, Hamilton expressed his satisfaction with the project, highlighting his active involvement in the film’s development process. He collaborated closely with the director, Joe Kosinski, and contributed significantly until the completion of the film. Hamilton also had the privilege of meeting Hans Zimmer at his renowned studio in Santa Monica during the four-year journey.
Following the successful release of the F1 movie, Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo Films remains active in the film industry, with the British driver already planning upcoming productions.
Hamilton shared, “We have some ideas in the works. I’m exploring options as storytelling is a passion of mine. In these challenging times, there’s a greater need for inspirational narratives. I have a keen interest in comedy and am developing ideas for television shows and animated movies. Quality is my focus over quantity, akin to how Quentin Tarantino approaches his projects.”
Formula 1 enthusiasts can now catch every practice, qualifying session, and race live with Sky’s new Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, saving £192. This package includes access to Sky Sports, around 100 TV channels, and complimentary subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.
In the interview, Hamilton emphasized the importance of creativity alongside his racing commitments, highlighting the need for a balanced life enriched with inspiration and creativity to avoid burnout.
On the racing front, Hamilton is striving for his first F1 podium finish with Ferrari. With four races remaining in the 2025 season, the Italian team is engaged in a tight battle for the Constructors’ Championship against Mercedes and Red Bull, holding a slim one-point lead over their rivals.
