Details have emerged regarding the severe mistreatment suffered by a newborn, as a mother faces consequences for her involvement in her son’s demise.

Kristie Lee Willmot’s infant, Michael Willmot, tragically lost his life in 2021 when he was only 37 days old. Initially accused of the baby’s murder, Willmot and her then partner, Robert Alan Gee, admitted to lesser charges during their recent court appearance.

Willmot confessed to mistreating children under 16 years old between June 10-15, 2021, while Gee pleaded guilty to manslaughter. Gee remained silent when asked for further comments by the court.

Reports indicate that Willmot left baby Michael under Gee’s care for a short period while she went to procure drugs for a friend. During this time, the baby became agitated, prompting Gee to violently shake him and then toss him onto a couch. Subsequently, Gee falsely informed Willmot that the baby was well and asleep.

As days passed, Michael’s condition worsened, with a high fever and refusal to eat. Despite the evident distress, instead of seeking medical help, Willmot documented the symptoms on her phone and conversed with Gee about the situation.

After Michael stopped breathing on June 14, 2021, he was declared deceased by paramedics. An autopsy revealed severe injuries consistent with shaking.

The court noted that Willmot’s inaction as a mother led to harm during that period. Although she cooperated with authorities, she concealed her drug-related activities during the incident.

While Willmot was not directly responsible for her child’s death, her failure to act knowing the consequences was deemed criminal. The judge emphasized that upon her return, it was evident the baby was unwell, and any doubts should have dissipated as his condition deteriorated.

Willmot received a four-year jail sentence, which was suspended given her time already served. In contrast, Gee’s sentencing is scheduled for November 13.
