A father of two in Cumbria struck it big, winning over half a million pounds in the EuroMillions lottery all thanks to his young daughter’s love for sweets. Valdet Bujupi, 44, bought a lucky dip ticket on a whim after his daughter’s persistent requests for treats, and it turned out to be a winning ticket with numbers 27, 30, 31, 41, 43, and lucky stars 05 and 08.
The unexpected windfall of £524,043.10 means that the family can now fulfill their dream of visiting New York. Valdet’s wife, Abbey, was initially taken aback by the news as she interrupted her cleaning duties to answer the call that changed their lives. Their son, initially skeptical, was convinced only after seeing the win on The National Lottery app.
The family celebrated their luck by visiting the London Eye and is now planning their next adventure to New York. Valdet also plans to use the prize money to support his mother in Kosovo, aiming to make her life easier in her later years. Reflecting on his win, Valdet expressed gratitude for his daughter’s sweet tooth, which led to their unexpected fortune. He is considering a house move and investing in his children’s future with the newfound wealth.
Andy Carter, a senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, shared his excitement for the family’s upcoming experiences and hoped they would savor every moment, especially during their trip to the Big Apple.
