Authorities have made an urgent plea following a car striking a woman with a stroller after veering onto the sidewalk. The event occurred around 4:30 pm today on the R617 route connecting Blarney and Tower in Ireland. The woman, in her thirties, and the infant were swiftly taken to a hospital in Cork. Her injuries are deemed non-life-threatening, and fortunately, the baby emerged unscathed, leading a local fire brigade member to label the outcome as ‘miraculous.’
Individuals who witnessed the collision or passed through the vicinity and might possess dashcam footage are encouraged to contact emergency services.
A representative from the Garda stated, “Law enforcement and emergency responders arrived at the scene subsequent to a report of a car accident involving two pedestrians, a woman in her thirties, and a male infant, which occurred in Blarney, Co. Cork, today, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at approximately 4:30 pm.
“The pedestrians were transported to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening presently.
“No additional injuries were documented. The site was secured for technical evaluation. The street has been reopened. Authorities are seeking witnesses, including those present in the area who may possess dashcam or video footage.”
Local councilor Damian Boylan expressed sympathy for the victim and commended the efforts of law enforcement and emergency services during the incident.
Boylan remarked, “This was an extremely unfortunate occurrence; the silver lining is that fortunately, no fatalities resulted, but it must have been a terrifying ordeal. My thoughts are with the woman and her loved ones.
“I am confident that law enforcement is diligently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident tonight.”
