Two individuals lost their lives in a tragic incident where a plane flipped during takeoff and ultimately burst into flames on the wing, causing shock among witnesses. The distressing event unfolded at Paramillo Aerodrome near San Cristobal, Venezuela, as the light aircraft veered out of control, almost turning upside down before crashing onto the runway.
The victims, identified as pilot Jose Antonio Bortone Terife, aged 50, and co-pilot Juan Maldonado, aged 47, were onboard the Piper Cheyenne 1 aircraft when the fire erupted, completely destroying the plane. Authorities are investigating the accident, with initial theories pointing towards a potential tire explosion or pilot error as contributing factors.
The National Institute of Civil Aviation of Venezuela confirmed the incident involving the PAY1 aircraft with registration YV1443, stating that the crew tragically lost their lives. The Civil Aviation Accident Investigation Board has been activated to determine the exact causes of the crash.
