Renowned host Claudia Winkleman has shared candid insights into her involvement with the popular BBC show “Strictly Come Dancing” before confirming her departure from the series today.
Winkleman initially joined the spin-off show “It Takes Two” in 2004 and later transitioned to co-present the Sunday results show alongside Tess Daly.
In 2014, she further elevated her role by co-hosting the main Saturday evening show with Daly following the departure of Sir Bruce Forsyth.
Speaking on the Dish podcast last year, Winkleman expressed her fondness for the show, emphasizing its female-led production team and the strong bonds formed over the years.
Beyond “Strictly Come Dancing,” Winkleman has been a familiar face on British TV, notably on Channel 4’s “The Piano” and BBC’s “The Great British Sewing Bee.”
Recently, she has been hosting the successful BBC game show “The Traitors,” with the celebrity edition launching in recent weeks.
Today, viewers were surprised as both Winkleman and Daly announced their departure from “Strictly Come Dancing” after a remarkable 15-year partnership.
In an Instagram video, the duo expressed their gratitude to the BBC and the show’s team, stating their decision to leave together was planned, and the timing felt right.
They conveyed their appreciation for the team and the memorable experiences on the show, hinting at continuing their friendship beyond the screen.
Viewers can catch the return of “Strictly Come Dancing” on BBC One this Saturday at 6.25 p.m.
