Travelling can often come with a hefty price tag, especially when factoring in the cost of flights for international trips. However, British and European travelers now have the opportunity to score complimentary flights courtesy of a major airline, with a small catch for those interested in securing a booking.

In a move to combat overtourism in popular destinations, All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan’s largest airline, has teamed up with the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) to provide free domestic flights this winter. This unique offer allows passengers to enjoy two free internal flights upon booking an inbound international flight.

The aim is to inspire travelers to discover Japan’s less-explored regions, showcasing its diverse landscapes and stunning coastlines rather than the usual tourist hubs like Tokyo and Kyoto. This initiative presents a perfect chance to delve into the country’s culture and explore a different side of Japan away from the crowds.

With over 40 destinations across Japan covered by the deal, travelers can choose from a range of breathtaking locations including Fukuoka, Hokkaido, and Nagasaki. The option to visit the Okinawa Islands is also available, known for their pristine white sandy beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters, often likened to the ‘Maldives of Japan.’

To benefit from the complimentary domestic flights, travelers must be arriving from the UK or Europe and arrange their own international flight to Japan with ANA. The offer is valid from November 24 to January 31, 2026, coinciding with the best time to book a London to Tokyo flight starting at £821 in January.

Under this scheme, passengers will be provided with standard class flights only and may need to cover tax and visa fees based on their chosen destination. Notably, the domestic flights do not have to be round-trip from the same airport, allowing for flexibility in exploring various parts of Japan.

ANA aims to make regional exploration more accessible and affordable through this limited-time promotion, encouraging a deeper and sustainable connection with Japan’s culturally rich regions. For more information and to book flights, visit the ANA website, which also offers itinerary examples featuring a stay in Tokyo before embarking on adventures to hidden gems.
