Nigel Farage is under renewed pressure to take action following a controversial statement made by one of his MPs that seemed to equate support for LGBT rights with endorsing Hamas.
During a Reform UK event broadcast on YouTube, Tory defector Danny Kruger suggested that the UK could face an alliance that supports both LGBT rights and Hamas, causing outrage. Labour MP Peter Swallow condemned Kruger’s remarks in the Commons, emphasizing the importance of LGBT rights as a fundamental aspect of British values.
Swallow called on fellow MPs to make it unequivocally clear to Kruger and Reform UK that supporting LGBT rights aligns with British values and the principles of Parliament. Kruger, who is the son of TV personality Prue Leith, warned of a potential future where a nationalist party supporting Hamas and LGBT causes could lead the country.
Following Kruger’s comments, Labour MP Polly Billington criticized his divisive rhetoric, stating that targeting LGBT individuals for political gain is unacceptable. She called for Nigel Farage to denounce Kruger’s words, emphasizing the harmful impact such rhetoric can have on communities.
Reform UK has been contacted for a response, but the controversy surrounding Kruger’s remarks continues to draw attention and criticism from various quarters.
