Authorities have initiated a homicide inquiry after a woman was found deceased, prompting a significant police presence at various locations across Nottinghamshire, with cordons established miles apart.

Following reports of a potential safety concern, law enforcement responded to a residence in Carlton at 10:07 pm yesterday, leading to the arrest of a 40-year-old male. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where a woman in her twenties was tragically pronounced dead.

The incident has now transitioned into a murder investigation, with detectives urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. Forensic teams are present at the scene located at Westdale Lane West and Woodborough Road, continuing their examinations.

Several cordons remain in place, including those at Westdale Lane East in Carlton, Westdale Lane West where the incident occurred, and in Mapperley and Oxclose Lane, Bestwood. Authorities have clarified that there is no immediate risk to the public, characterizing the incident as “isolated.”

Detective Inspector Stuart Barson, leading the investigation, expressed condolences to the woman’s loved ones and assured that support is being provided. He emphasized the urgency of information from witnesses or individuals with potential footage of the area surrounding the incident.

“Additional police patrols will be conducted in the vicinity as our inquiries progress. Residents can anticipate heightened law enforcement presence in the area. We believe this to be an isolated event with no broader threat to public safety,” Detective Inspector Barson affirmed.
