The Apex Legends Winter Wipeout event is poised to commence later today, marking the beginning of an exciting start to the battle royale in 2026. The upcoming mid-season update will introduce significant changes to some of the game’s most popular Legends, along with an array of winter-themed limited-time items to enjoy during the dark winter days.

Let’s delve into the key updates in this upcoming patch. A concise summary of the patch notes will be provided, but for those seeking more detailed information, the full notes will be available at the end.

One of the major highlights of the Winter Wipeout update is the introduction of the new Hoverboard item. This item occupies the Survival Item slot and is replenished each time a player respawns in the Wildcard mode.

Equipping the Hoverboard grants players a speed boost and a variety of new movement abilities, including double jump, wall riding, and zip-line surfing. Players can also perform aerial tricks to earn EVO, which is crucial for upcoming battles.

Aside from Hoverboards, several other new Wildcards will be introduced during this event. Additionally, Octane, Crypto, and Newcastle will undergo significant overhauls to their abilities.

Octane’s passive healing ability has been enhanced to heal more based on his health status. Furthermore, using his Stim ability consecutively triggers a new mixture called ‘Stim Surge,’ which reduces incoming damage and heals him through damage.

Newcastle receives two new abilities that replace his previous ones. Reviving players will automatically reload his weapons, ensuring he is prepared for swift reentry into combat. His Tactical and Revive shields will now knock back enemies once.

Crypto has received upgrades to enhance his stealth capabilities on the battlefield. He can now Trailblaze to all allies using Ally.MoveTo() and gains Ultimate charge from using scan beacons and tagging enemies with his drone.

Additionally, players can look forward to unlocking and purchasing numerous new cosmetic items as part of the Winter Wipeout event, available in Packs or through the in-game shop.
