UK households using BT Broadband services will soon receive an unexpected upgrade. BT Mobile is set to re-enter the UK market, resuming new customer sign-ups after a hiatus in 2023 when the focus shifted to the EE network brand. However, there is now a notable shift in strategy as BT announces that existing broadband customers will have access to BT-branded SIM deals once again.

While specific details are yet to be disclosed, this move indicates BT’s commitment to enhancing the visibility of its well-established brand, which had taken a back seat to EE in recent years. CEO Allison Kirkby, who assumed leadership in 2024, is determined to reaffirm BT’s presence in UK households amid concerns about the brand’s diminishing recognition among the public.

Kirkby emphasized the company’s recent network investments and expressed the need to further invest in enhancing their brands, products, and services during an event at Wembley. This relaunch will position BT in direct competition with major providers like Vodafone and O2, as well as popular budget networks including Giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, and SMARTY.

While pricing details are still pending, BT intends to offer bundled packages that include broadband, landline, and mobile SIM services, consolidating them into a single monthly bill. Industry analyst Paolo Pescatore views this move as a strategic effort to stay relevant in a fiercely competitive telecom market where factors like resilience, scale, and trust are crucial alongside coverage.

BT also disclosed its partnership as the official telecoms provider for the UEFA Euro 2028 tournament, set to take place across Britain and Ireland. Pescatore emphasized the importance of reconnecting with users, households, and businesses, mentioning that the UEFA Euro 2028 deal serves as a significant opportunity to showcase BT’s scale, relevance, and service delivery.

In a statement, Pescatore highlighted the unique unifying power of sports in bringing together nations, creating shared experiences, and fostering emotional connections that are unparalleled by other platforms.
