A young woman, Kira Cousins, has recently come forward to address a controversial fake baby incident that had caused a stir on social media. Cousins, 22, has been accused of deceiving her close circle by presenting a plastic Reborn doll as her own child, whom she named Bonnie-Leigh Joyce. Allegations suggest that she went to great lengths, including wearing a fake pregnancy bump for an extended period and fabricating a birth story, to maintain the ruse.

In a heartfelt statement shared on Tuesday morning and since deleted from Instagram, Cousins expressed deep remorse, admitting to fabricating the entire scenario. She confessed to creating false ultrasound scans, messages, a detailed birth narrative, and treating the doll as a real infant. She acknowledged the severity of her actions, emphasizing her struggle to halt the deception once it began.

Cousins recognized the harm caused by her actions, acknowledging the loss of trust and potential friendships. She attributed her behavior to personal struggles but emphasized that it did not excuse her deceit. The remorseful individual vowed to seek help and self-improvement, recognizing the enduring impact of her actions on her relationships.

Apologizing to her loved ones in Airdrie, Scotland, Cousins expressed regret for misleading and hurting those who believed in her story. She acknowledged the emotional investment made by her supporters and the unintended consequences of her deception. Additionally, she extended apologies to the individuals who were unfairly portrayed negatively during the charade.

Cousins also defended those who mistook the doll for a real baby, highlighting its lifelike features that could easily deceive observers. She clarified that the doll’s realistic movements and functionalities contributed to the illusion, making it challenging for others to discern its true nature.

Leading up to the faux birth, Cousins shared images of fabricated baby scans, videos of a gender reveal event, and staged moments of the “baby” kicking in her stomach. She further perpetuated the lie by showcasing gifts received and discussing fictitious medical appointments and diagnoses. A family friend described Cousins as a habitual liar, casting doubt on her credibility.

Reborn dolls, like the one manipulated by Cousins, range in price from £30 to £2,000 and are crafted to resemble real infants. The incident serves as a cautionary tale about the consequences of deception and the power of social media in perpetuating falsehoods.
