Air Arabia, for example, will soon introduce a new seven hours and 50 minutes flight from London Gatwick to Sharjah in spring 2026, marking one of the world’s longest budget airline routes.
While these flights may lack extravagance, they provide an affordable means to explore the Middle East, with Sharjah Airport conveniently located just half an hour away from Dubai. Tickets from London to Sharjah currently start at £182, with expectations that the new route could offer even more competitive prices.
Air Arabia’s onboard experience resembles that of other budget airlines like easyJet, Jet2, and Ryanair, featuring a single-aisle cabin layout with standard seating arrangements. Passengers can opt for additional legroom and various package deals that include amenities like checked baggage and meal options.
Entertainment options on Air Arabia flights are basic, with no seatback TVs provided. However, passengers can use the SkyTime app to access a variety of content on their personal devices. Notably, the airline does not serve alcohol onboard, in line with the regulations of the dry emirate of Sharjah.
Upon arrival, travelers can explore Sharjah’s cultural attractions, including the renowned Islamic Civilization Museum and the scenic Al Majaz Waterfront area.
