Sir AP McCoy has shared his thoughts on the future plans for Constitution Hill, a promising jumps horse. Constitution Hill, who triumphed at the 2023 Champion Hurdle, had an impressive record of ten consecutive wins before encountering setbacks at the Cheltenham Festival and subsequently at Aintree and Punchestown.

Trainer Nicky Henderson, after conducting a thorough evaluation during the summer, believed Constitution Hill was ready for a comeback at the Fighting Fifth Hurdle in Newcastle. Unfortunately, the horse faced another fall during the race, raising concerns about his jumping ability.

Despite the challenges, Henderson has dismissed the idea of retiring Constitution Hill and is considering transitioning the horse to flat racing. McCoy, speaking on William Hill’s Inside Track, expressed his belief in the horse’s potential and resilience, advocating for perseverance in hurdles.

On the other hand, Barry Geraghty, a William Hill ambassador and the original purchaser of Constitution Hill, suggested exploring options for improving the horse’s jumping skills before making any decisions about his future. Geraghty recommended potential rehabilitation programs, including unconventional approaches like those offered by Yogi Breisner, to address the jumping issues.

The future path for Constitution Hill remains uncertain, with differing opinions on the best course of action. As discussions continue, the connections of the horse will need to weigh the options carefully before determining the next steps for the talented but troubled jumper.
