Those born before September 22, 1959, are eligible for Winter Fuel Payments if they claimed specific benefits during the qualifying week of September 15 to 21, 2025.
Individuals who did not claim the mentioned benefits need to apply for the Winter Fuel Payment by contacting the Winter Fuel Payment Centre via post or phone before March 31, 2026. Ineligibility applies if one received hospital treatment or was incarcerated during the qualifying week, or resided in a care facility while claiming certain benefits.
In Scotland, the Winter Fuel Payment is substituted with the Pension Age Winter Heating Payment, ranging from £101.70 to £305.10.
