Actor Dylan Walsh of the popular series “Heated Rivalry” found himself in hot water recently after hinting at the possibility of filming twelve new episodes for the hit hockey romance show. This news sparked excitement among fans, leading to speculations about potential multiple seasons in the pipeline.
In a video shared on the Cameo platform, the 62-year-old American actor, known for his role as the father of hockey player Shane Hollander (portrayed by Canadian actor Hudson Williams) on the show, expressed his fondness for being part of “Heated Rivalry.” Walsh mentioned his upcoming return to Canada to film more episodes, suggesting a total of 12 new episodes in the works.
However, Walsh’s remarks resulted in a backlash as he later apologized and temporarily suspended his Cameo account. He clarified that his comments were speculative and not based on any official information, expressing regret for causing confusion among fans and the production team.
Despite the actor’s misstep, the show’s representatives have not yet responded to inquiries regarding Walsh’s statements. The series, available on Crave, has been surrounded by fan enthusiasm and discussions, with recent controversies over body diversity in casting choices for the upcoming season.
Following Walsh’s video, social media buzzed with theories about potential production for a third season alongside the second, fueled by the actor’s mention of 12 episodes. The show’s creator, Jacob Tierney, previously indicated a preference for concise seasons, with the first season comprising six episodes.
Based on the Game Changers book series by Canadian author Rachel Reid, “Heated Rivalry” has garnered critical acclaim and numerous awards, including a Peabody Award and a Canadian Screen Award for best drama series. The second season, currently in production in Toronto and Montreal, has added five new cast members, as announced by Crave Canada on social media.
