The Co-operative Bank plans to reduce operating hours at 40 of its branches starting next year. Some branches will experience cuts of up to three hours per week, with 18 branches closing for one day during the workweek.
For instance, the Brighton branch previously operated from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, but will now be open from 9.30am to 2.30pm on weekdays. Similarly, the Caerphilly branch’s hours will change from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, to 10am to 2pm, with closure on Wednesdays.
The Co-operative Bank, serving 2.5 million customers, announced on its website that these adjustments are due to declining branch visits. The bank stated that despite reduced weekday hours, branch teams will continue to assist customers through mobile, online, or telephone banking. Alternate branches will be available if a customer’s local branch is closed on a weekday.
