Louis Vuitton, a renowned luxury brand, has ventured into the beauty industry with its debut makeup line, sparking mixed reactions from consumers. While the label is known for its high prices, the cost of their lip balm and lipsticks has left many shoppers astounded.

Traditionally excelling in luxury accessories, Louis Vuitton has recently introduced a new beauty collection named La Beauté. However, fans have criticized the brand for being out of touch with the current market sentiment.

The collection boasts 55 lipsticks (a nod to the LV Roman numerals), 10 lip balms, and eight quad eyeshadow palettes. Each item is elegantly packaged in collectible Louis Vuitton containers, making them a favorite for Instagram beauty enthusiasts.

Collaborating with makeup icon Dame Pat McGrath, the founder of Pat McGrath Labs, Louis Vuitton aims to offer a diverse range of shades suitable for all skin tones. McGrath expressed her excitement about the launch, highlighting the craftsmanship, creativity, and innovation behind the products.

While luxury brands like Dior, Chanel, YSL, and Gucci have delved into the beauty realm, offering relatively more affordable options, Louis Vuitton has maintained its high-end pricing strategy. The lipsticks and lip balms are priced at £120 each, prompting criticism from consumers who find the prices excessive.

In response to the backlash, some customers have suggested exploring alternative affordable lipstick options like MAC Macximal Silky Matte Lipstick (£21) or e.l.f. O Face Satin Lipstick Vocal (£10). These alternatives offer similar quality and longevity without the hefty price tag.

Charlotte Tilbury has also introduced Hot Lips 2 Dancefloor Princess lipsticks (£30), providing a moisturizing satin finish in a refillable tube. Despite the availability of more affordable alternatives, Louis Vuitton’s luxury beauty line continues to face scrutiny for its steep pricing strategy.
