Nathan Fielder, the Vancouver-born comedian, writer, and director, has unveiled a teaser for his upcoming project following the latest season of “The Rehearsal.” His next endeavor is a documentary focusing on Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of Theranos, who was convicted of fraud in 2022 for deceiving the public with claims of revolutionary blood testing capabilities.
The documentary, titled “You Can See Everything,” was co-created by Fielder and documentarian Lance Oppenheim. It delves into the period leading up to Holmes’s imprisonment in 2023. Oppenheim, known for works like “Spermworld” (2024) and “Some Kind of Heaven” (2020), brings his expertise to this collaboration.
Fielder gained recognition through his show “Nathan For You,” where he humorously dispenses misguided business advice. He also endeared himself to Canadian audiences with his segments on CBC’s “This Hour Has 22 Minutes.”
“You Can See Everything” is set to be distributed by A24, known for its distinctive visual style. The trailer showcases a tense exchange between Holmes and Fielder, hinting at the intriguing narrative to come.
The teaser was revealed alongside a surprise screening at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado. While official reviews are pending, early reactions on social media praise the documentary as groundbreaking and captivating.
Director Daniel Howat described it as a “hysterical, shocking, insane documentary” and a “work of genius.” Erik Nordgren, a music producer, hailed it as the best film of the year, with structural elements that defy expectations.
This project echoes Fielder’s knack for uncomfortable yet compelling interactions, reminiscent of his past interviews. The documentary is scheduled for a theatrical release in the coming month.
