The Canadian women’s basketball team concluded the group stage of the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament by defeating Mexico 70-64 in Guadalajara on Thursday night. Yvonne Ejim scored 19 points to lead Canada to a 3-0 record, with Syla Swords contributing 17 points. Mariana Valenzuela led Mexico with 17 points.
In the upcoming semifinals on Saturday, Canada will face New Zealand, while the host team will compete against Brazil. The tournament winner will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments scheduled for February 2028.
