Dancing On Ice participant Robin Johnstone has spoken out after the surprising passing of boxing icon Ricky Hatton at 46 years old. Hatton was discovered deceased in his residence in Greater Manchester, where he lived. The renowned fighter competed from 1997 to 2012 and later transitioned into a role as a promoter and trainer. He achieved six world titles across three different weight classes, solidifying his legacy as one of the top British boxers of his era.

Authorities from the Greater Manchester Police have verified the discovery of a body at Hatton’s residence in Gee Cross, Hyde, emphasizing that the circumstances do not indicate any suspicious activity. Hatton, who would have turned 47 in the upcoming month, leaves behind three children, including his son Campbell, a former professional boxer who retired earlier this year.

A police representative stated, “A body was located at a residence on Bowlacre Road in Gee Cross at 6:45 am today, Sunday, September 14. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”

The tragic news follows Hatton’s recent announcement of his boxing comeback, with a match scheduled for December against Eisa Al Dah from the United Arab Emirates. Additionally, he had appeared on Dancing On Ice in 2024 alongside professional skater Robin. Following the news of Hatton’s passing, Robin expressed her deep sorrow, describing Hatton as a friend and highlighting his enthusiasm for his upcoming fight and dedication to his family.

Robin disclosed that she maintained regular contact with Hatton even after the show ended, emphasizing their close bond. She recalled fond memories of their time together on Dancing On Ice and commended Hatton for his openness about his struggles and commitment to mental health awareness. Reflecting on their friendship, Robin shared that Hatton’s positivity and caring nature were truly memorable.

Regarding Hatton’s relationship with fellow Dancing On Ice contestant Claire Sweeney, Robin mentioned that Claire would also be devastated by the loss, noting the strong bonds formed within the show’s community. She described Hatton as a cheerful and compassionate individual, emphasizing the impact of his untimely passing on everyone who knew him.
