Canadian defender Moise Bombito credited a conversation with national team coach Jesse Marsch for his decision to undergo surgery on his left tibia. Despite facing chronic pain, Bombito was determined not to miss the FIFA World Cup happening in his homeland. The announcement of the surgery came from his club team Nice in France, revealing that a recent scan led to the decision for surgery.
Expressing his commitment to representing his country, Bombito shared that while his body was aching, his determination to participate in the World Cup was unwavering. Having initially fractured his tibia in October, Bombito made a timely return to action for Canada during the summer matches. Despite his efforts, it was evident that he was not performing at his best due to the lingering leg issue.
Following his return to Nice, Bombito continued to experience discomfort and pain but delayed surgery to explore all options. He described the constant pain and electric shock-like sensations with every movement, emphasizing the mental toll it was taking on him. Looking ahead, Bombito aims to undergo the surgery to finally overcome the year-long struggle and return to top form.
Having joined Nice in 2024 after playing for the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer, Bombito had a successful first season before injury setbacks limited his appearances the following season.
