A veteran horse racing trainer is in critical condition at a hospital following an accident involving a horse at his stable in Dorset. Bill Turner, who celebrated his 78th birthday recently, sustained a severe head injury during the incident. He was swiftly transported to the hospital, where medical professionals diagnosed him with a fractured skull.

Sky Sports Racing presenter Matt Chapman relayed information from Turner’s family, who are actively involved in managing the stable alongside him. Turner’s wife Tracy and daughter Kathy are integral to the operation. Chapman revealed that Turner fell and suffered a skull fracture, leading to his current hospitalization on a ventilator. The family faces a challenging decision in the coming days regarding the ventilator’s continuation.

Chapman called upon the racing community to keep Turner in their thoughts and prayers during this trying time. Turner, who oversees a dozen horses and holds a license with the British Horseracing Authority, has a notable track record. He has trained six champions of the Brocklesby Stakes at Doncaster, a prestigious two-year-old race, dating back to 1996.

In recent years, Turner’s stable has enjoyed success, with significant wins and lucrative earnings. Notably, one of his horses, Mick’s Yer Man, was sold to Hong Kong under a new name, Always Win, fetching further profits for Turner. His expertise spans both flat and jump horse racing, with a successful career spanning decades.

The stable’s upcoming contender, Red Snapper, is anticipated to participate in a five-furlong nursery race at Chepstow later this week.
