Britons can expect a drop in temperatures over the upcoming weekend, with a possibility of snow, as indicated by weather forecasts. Following a warm and dry summer, September has begun unsettled, with stormy weather bringing heavy rain and strong gusts reaching up to 74mph in the Isle of Wight. The outlook for the next few days suggests continued blustery conditions due to low-pressure systems moving in from the Atlantic, though not as intense as the recent storm.

Temperatures are forecasted to decrease to the mid-teens for many regions, with a potential rise to 23°C in the southeast by Friday. However, significant changes are expected, especially for northern areas, with the jet stream altering weather patterns and leading to cooler temperatures.

Weather maps from WXCharts show snowfall in central Scotland on Sunday morning, with northern England and southern regions likely to experience rain. Temperatures could plummet to 0°C in Scotland on Sunday morning, remaining in single digits throughout the day across the country. The BBC’s weather forecaster, Louis Lear, mentioned a persistent unsettled weather pattern due to a cut-off low-pressure system developing over central and southern England.

The Met Office’s forecast for September 20 to September 29 suggests colder weather ahead, with the possibility of “chilly nights.” Unsettled conditions are expected to persist initially, with wet and windy spells interspersed with brighter intervals. Towards the following week, high pressure may bring drier weather to northern areas, while low pressure lingers in the south. By late September, high pressure is anticipated to dominate across the UK, leading to average temperatures after a cooler interlude.
