Cleaning an oven can often be a tedious task, especially when dealing with stubborn grease and burnt residue. However, there is a clever method to tackle even the most persistent stains effectively.

Grease and cooking splatters are typically oil-based, making them resistant to water and rendering most conventional cleaning products ineffective. This leads to extensive scrubbing of the oven over time. Nonetheless, Louise Petty, a cleaning specialist from High Speed Training, has shared a simple solution for eliminating greasy and charred marks using baking soda.

Petty mentioned that natural oven cleaners can match the effectiveness of chemical products at a fraction of the cost. By creating a basic baking soda paste and applying vinegar or lemon juice, burnt-on residues can be removed without posing any health risks.

When oven stains are exposed to high temperatures, they solidify and turn acidic, making them challenging to clean. Baking soda, being an alkaline substance, can neutralize the acidic fats in oven stains, simplifying the cleaning process.

Baking soda alone can help remove grease stains, but for optimal results, allowing it to sit on the stains for hours, preferably overnight, is recommended. For a quicker clean, combining baking soda with an acidic substance like white vinegar or lemon juice proves to be more effective.

The reaction between bicarbonate of soda and an acidic substance causes fizzing, aiding in breaking down grime and loosening tough stains, ensuring a sparkling clean oven in no time.

To apply this method, mix bicarbonate of soda with water to form a paste, then spread it over the oven door and bottom. The longer the paste sits, the more effective it becomes. Leaving it overnight for heavily soiled ovens is ideal.

After the wait time, transfer white vinegar or lemon juice into a spray bottle and spritz it onto the bicarbonate of soda paste, causing it to fizz. Once the fizzing subsides, use a clean damp cloth to wipe off the solution, easily removing the stains and leaving the oven gleaming and pristine with minimal effort.

This approach ensures you won’t have to worry about tackling tough grease stains in your oven again, making cleaning a much simpler chore.
