A former prominent figure has traded the glamorous lifestyle for a secluded existence within a “lost tribe” dwelling in the forests of the UK.
The unexpected revelation of an American waitress who went missing from Texas and joined the self-proclaimed “Kingdom of Kubala” in the Scottish woodlands with her young daughter has captivated the public. The group, led by the married duo Kofi Offeh and Jean Gasho, known as King Atehene and Queen Nandi, assert their lineage from an African royal heritage, seeking to reclaim land they believe was taken from their ancestors.
Prior to their claim of Scottish rulership, Offeh and Gasho pursued careers in the UK entertainment industry. Offeh, a tenor in opera, shared encounters with renowned figures like TV chef Ainsley Harriott and singer Beverley Knight. Gasho, originally from Zimbabwe, worked as a nurse and authored a book centered on a young boy in Scotland. The couple even organized a formal awards event in London in 2017.
In a notable performance, Offeh showcased his talent by singing Puccini’s Nessun Dorma at an esteemed event in 2014, leaving a lasting impression on Gasho. Their romantic relationship blossomed shortly after this event, marking the beginning of their joint pursuit of success in the entertainment realm.
Despite their initial aspirations in show business, the couple recently transitioned to overseeing an “African tribe” in Scotland, facing legal challenges as a court order mandated the removal of their encampment. Undeterred, Offeh expressed confidence in their cause, citing divine protection against the court’s actions. The tribe later relocated, only to receive another eviction notice in the Scottish Borders.
