Alan Carr’s former spouse, Paul Drayton, has stated that the star of “Celebrity Traitors” possesses a “ruthless streak,” revealing insights into their marriage in an honest interview. Alan, aged 49, currently participates in the popular BBC One show as a Traitor alongside Jonathan Ross and Paloma Faith.
Audiences have witnessed Alan and his fellow Traitors eliminate three celebrities – Paloma Faith, Tom Daley, and Ruth Codd – while three Faithfuls took the blame, resulting in their expulsion. Niko Omilana, Tameka Empson, and Clare Balding were wrongly accused and removed from the show.
Recently, Alan’s former husband shared details about their relationship, reflecting on their 13-year companionship that culminated in a 2018 marriage ceremony in Los Angeles, followed by an amicable split during lockdown post Paul’s drink-driving arrest.
In an interview with The Sun on Sunday, Paul described Alan as being perceived as “the funniest thing ever” by people, but at home, he could exhibit a different persona, acknowledging Alan’s ruthless side when pushed too far. Despite the separation, Paul emphasized that he maintains a cordial relationship with Alan and appreciates his tolerance during their time together, albeit noting Alan’s ability to cut ties if he feels exploited.
Addressing rumors about Alan’s friendship with co-star Paloma Faith, Paul clarified that they are not close acquaintances and that Paloma is not Alan’s type of person, indicating that their relationship is purely professional. He also mentioned Alan’s close friendships with Amanda Holden, Angellica Bell, Sally Lindsay, and the late Paul O’Grady.
The Mirror has contacted Alan Carr for a response to these statements.
Furthermore, there have been reports suggesting that Alan is being considered for a new show following his success on Celebrity Traitors. According to a source, the BBC is interested in retaining Alan as a key asset and collaborating on a new project with him.
A public relations expert also speculated on Alan’s potential return to mainstream television, hinting at a possible TV series as part of his comeback strategy after being relatively low-key recently.
