Aldi has initiated a urgent recall for one of its steak products due to concerns about health safety. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has stated that the popular retailer will be taking off its £3.99 steaks, specifically the Ashfields 30 Day Matured Thin Cut Beef Steaks, from its shelves. This decision was made as the product was found to contain milk, an ingredient that was not disclosed on the label. The omission of this information could potentially pose a health risk to individuals who are lactose intolerant or have dairy allergies. Customers who may have purchased these steaks before the recall are advised not to consume them.
The FSA has highlighted that the packaging error in question makes the product a potential health hazard for those with milk allergies or intolerances. The affected steaks are 360g packs with a use-by date of October 26, 2025. Aldi is actively recalling this product and has been instructed to inform relevant allergy support groups to notify their members about the recall. The company has also issued notices in-store to explain the reason for the recall and provide guidance to customers who have purchased the product. Individuals with milk allergies or intolerances are strongly advised not to consume the recalled steaks and can return them to Aldi for a full refund.
In a separate incident, shoppers who have bought a specific sweet treat from Lidl have been cautioned against consuming it as it may contain metal fragments. The FSA has issued an urgent recall for the XXL Sondey Stroopwaffel with Caramel Flavour Filling and Butter, available in 560g packages with best before dates of November 21, 2025, December 2, 2025, or December 3, 2025. Lidl is recalling this product and will display point of sale notices in all its retail stores. Customers who have purchased the affected product are advised not to eat it and can return it to the store for a full refund.
