Apple’s AirTag, a popular item tracker, is a must-have for those who frequently misplace their belongings. Launched in 2021, these small trackers have gained popularity for their ability to pinpoint lost items on a map. Their compact size allows for easy attachment to keys, bags, laptops, or luggage.

The newest AirTag model has been revealed with an upgraded Ultra Wideband chip, offering a significantly enhanced range. This update improves Precision Finding by up to 50%, making it easier to locate lost items from a greater distance. Precision Finding is now supported on select Apple Watch models, enabling users to track misplaced items directly from their wrists.

Apple has also enhanced the new AirTag’s internal speaker, making it 50% louder than its predecessor. This improvement is beneficial for locating the AirTag in hard-to-reach places.

AirTags utilize Apple’s Find My network, which leverages nearby Apple devices to relay location updates anonymously. The system prioritizes privacy, with no location history stored on the device and all communication encrypted end-to-end for the owner’s eyes only.

The updated AirTag seamlessly integrates with Share Item Location, allowing users to securely share an item’s location with trusted parties like airlines for tracking lost luggage. Apple has partnered with over 50 airlines to support this feature.

The new AirTag is now available for purchase on apple.com/uk and the Apple Store app, with in-store availability coming soon. Prices start at £29 for a single AirTag or £99 for a pack of four, offering a more affordable option compared to the original model.
