Former coach Billy Graham of Ricky Hatton expressed deep sorrow following the boxer’s passing at 46 years old. Hatton was discovered deceased on Sunday morning after failing to attend an event the previous night, prompting concern from friends. Authorities confirmed his discovery with no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Tributes swiftly flowed in for the 2005 world champion, known for his prominent role in British boxing history and notable fights against Kostya Tszyu, Floyd Mayweather, and Manny Pacquiao. Despite defeats to the latter two, Hatton’s career took a downturn leading to retirement and emotional struggles, including strained relationships with his parents and legal disputes with Graham over payment.

Following a reconciliation between Hatton and Graham after a settlement, Graham left a touching message outside Hatton’s residence, expressing regret for not being there. Recalling a gathering in 2015 to celebrate his victory over Tszyu, Hatton emotionally acknowledged Graham’s presence, highlighting their strong bond and shared history.

Notable figures in the boxing community, such as Amir Khan and Tyson Fury, paid tribute to Hatton’s legacy and character. Khan emphasized Hatton’s mentorship and resilience, shedding light on mental health struggles and the importance of open dialogue and support among fighters. Fury and other boxing personalities also honored Hatton’s memory and contributions to the sport.

Former promoter Frank Warren lamented Hatton’s passing, recognizing him as a talented and inspirational figure in British boxing, particularly recalling his historic victory over Tszyu. Warren praised Hatton’s impact on the sport and the lasting legacy he leaves behind.

The boxing world mourns the loss of Ricky Hatton, remembering him as a beloved champion and influential figure in the sport’s history.
