British boxing legend Ricky Hatton has passed away at his home at the age of 46. Hatton, a beloved figure in British sports, achieved great success in his career, notably becoming world champion in 2005 after defeating Kosta Tszyu. He was also involved in high-profile fights against Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

Following a KO defeat by Pacquiao, Hatton retired but made a comeback in 2022, where he faced Vyachslav Senchenko. Despite his upcoming bout in December against Eisa Al Dah in Dubai, Hatton’s life was tragically cut short.

The Greater Manchester Police confirmed the discovery of Hatton’s body at his residence, stating that the death was not deemed suspicious. Hatton, who grew up in Manchester, turned to boxing to defend himself from bullies after a brief stint with Rochdale football club.

Throughout his career, Hatton achieved numerous accomplishments, including winning the WBU light-welterweight title in 2001 and securing victories over notable opponents. Despite setbacks, such as his defeat by Mayweather in 2007 and Pacquiao in 2009, Hatton remained a respected figure in the boxing world.

Aside from his boxing career, Hatton struggled with personal challenges, including mental health issues, weight fluctuations, and a well-documented estrangement from his parents. Despite these struggles, Hatton found solace in coaching before his untimely passing.

Tributes poured in from the boxing community, with friends and colleagues honoring Hatton’s legacy and impact on the sport. Amir Khan expressed gratitude for Hatton’s influence and resilience, urging others to seek help if struggling. Chris Eubank Sr and Turki Al-Sheikh also paid their respects to the late boxing icon.

The boxing world mourns the loss of Ricky Hatton, a true champion whose legacy will endure in the hearts of fans and fellow fighters.
