Canada is gearing up for its first appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest, with the opportunity to make a memorable mark on the international stage. The chosen artist will have the crucial task of representing Canada in a way that resonates with audiences worldwide.

Aspiring participants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, aged 18 or older by May 1, 2027, and capable of traveling internationally. The selection process involves submitting two videos: one showcasing a live performance and the other explaining their passion for Eurovision.

CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking performers with exceptional vocal abilities, fluency in both English and French for the bilingual song requirement, and a significant online presence. Established artists like Rêve, Talk, and bbno$ have already expressed their interest in competing, bringing a mix of talent and accolades to the table.

The application portal will close on September 9, after which a shortlist of finalists will be determined by a panel of music and television experts. The ultimate selection of Canada’s representative will involve a combination of online public votes and a jury decision, with the chosen artist set to be announced before winter.

The selected artist will play a pivotal role in shaping the final song for Eurovision, with support from established songwriters. From crafting the music to filming a music video, the journey will be intense leading up to the Grand Final in May. Despite the hard work, the exposure gained from Eurovision is considered a priceless opportunity for artists to showcase their talent on a global scale.
