A tragic incident in the Caerau area of Cardiff has resulted in the death of a woman who was struck by a car outside a club. South Wales Police reported that Shelley Davies, aged 38, sustained fatal injuries in the accident that occurred shortly before midnight on September 27.

The authorities confirmed that Ms. Davies passed away at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff on October 18. Subsequently, a man has been charged with her murder in connection to the incident.

Law enforcement responded to Heol Trelai after receiving reports of a vehicle hitting multiple pedestrians. A significant police presence was deployed, and a large cordon was established from Caerau Lane to Church Road to facilitate the investigation by crime scene personnel.

Images from the location depicted investigators gathering evidence near a grassy area on the road outside the 4th Glamorgan Homeguard Club, as per reports from Wales Online.

In an official statement, South Wales Police stated, “A 38-year-old woman involved in a collision in Caerau, Cardiff, last month has tragically passed away, and a man has been charged with her murder. Shelley Davies, a resident of Caerau, succumbed to her injuries at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.”

The arrested individual, an 18-year-old local man, had initially been taken into custody on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and serious injury through dangerous driving. After being on bail pending further investigations, the suspect, identified as Kian Bateman from Caerau, Cardiff, was re-arrested and charged with the murder of Shelley Davies.

The accused is currently in police custody and is set to appear in Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on October 20, facing additional charges related to causing grievous bodily harm to a second victim.

Detective Inspector Mike Healy of South Wales Police expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Shelley Davies as they cope with this tragic loss. Shelley’s family is receiving ongoing support and updates from our officers.”
