A family’s holiday retreat turned into a nightmare when two intruders committed a heinous act. Kaye and Rolf Tiede took their two daughters and Kaye’s mother on a mountain cabin vacation just before Christmas. Unbeknownst to them, two recently released ex-convicts, Edward Steven Deli and Von Lester Taylor, had already broken into the cabin with plans to rob them.
Upon the family’s arrival, the intruders held them at gunpoint, leading to a tragic series of events where Kaye and her mother were fatally shot. Rolf, miraculously surviving a gunshot due to birdshot ammunition, had to play dead as the criminals set the cabin on fire.
Despite his injuries, Rolf managed to escape and seek help. Meanwhile, the daughters were kidnapped by the perpetrators and forced to assist in loading the family’s belongings onto snowmobiles for escape. Eventually, the sisters were rescued by the police after a pursuit.
The criminals were apprehended, and one was sentenced to death while the other received a life sentence. The surviving family members rebuilt the cabin as a symbol of resilience. The perpetrators were caught on camera opening Christmas presents, and justice was served through legal proceedings.
The family found solace in their unity and the memory of their father’s reassuring words, embodying strength and determination in the face of tragedy.
