Following the outcome of the US presidential election, the couple made the decision to move to England.
Joining a chorus of celebrities critical of Donald Trump’s supporters before the election, Ellen and her 52-year-old wife expressed their disappointment and desire to start anew in England. Recent Instagram posts showcase the couple’s comfortable settlement in their new home, featuring an open-plan design connecting the kitchen, dining area, and living room with expansive windows offering views of the lush green backyard.
Married since 2008, Ellen and Portia reportedly undertook renovations on the property, opting for an understated decor theme highlighted by ivory and matte mocha latte beige tones. The interior boasts a tiled dining table with eight leather chairs, a glass coffee table, and lounge chairs resting on muted grey and ecru rugs.
The couple’s minimalist approach sharply contrasts with the opulent style favored by Mr. Trump, who recently demolished a portion of his own residence in the US to make way for a lavish ballroom at the White House. Ellen, with a career spanning over four decades in the US, seems content with her simplistic style, evident in the Instagram video where she expresses delight in watching their dogs, Sport and Kid, play in the house.
The couple’s estate is also home to horses, chickens, and sheep that roam the Cotswolds countryside, maintaining the grounds. Ellen mentioned the importance of accommodating Portia’s love for horses when choosing their new residence for full-time living.
