A father had to witness a disturbing racial attack on his wife via a FaceTime call. Pete Moffat, aged 55, observed the appalling incident as his wife Evelyn Leitizia was targeted by a group of masked young individuals.

Evelyn, a 41-year-old from Bali, Indonesia, was out in Glasgow with female relatives on September 12 when a group of hateful youths approached them. The gang surrounded Evelyn, making stabbing gestures and hurling racial slurs, causing distress to the women. Pete expressed deep sorrow, stating that such events make him feel ashamed to be Scottish.

In a disturbing video, the group was seen consuming alcohol and taunting Evelyn and her family. One individual mentioned a machete, while another threatened to put someone in a body bag. Evelyn recounted the incident outside Glasgow Queen Street station, labeling it a hate crime and condemning the racist abuse her family endured.

Pete raised concerns about the rise of racism in Scotland, attributing it to the increasing influence of far-right ideologies and anti-immigration demonstrations on youth culture. The couple, Pete and Evelyn, expressed fear for their teenage sons following the traumatic experience.

Stand up to Racism Scotland (SUTR) extended their solidarity to the family and denounced the surge in racist violence nationwide. The organization highlighted the role of far-right protests and hateful rhetoric in fueling racist attacks, emphasizing the need for communities to unite against racism and bigotry.

The British Transport Police confirmed an investigation into the incident, which occurred outside Glasgow Queen Street station. Authorities urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing inquiry.
