Football Manager 26 is facing more challenges as developers announce a delay in the planned update, leaving approximately 200 unresolved issues. The studio behind the popular sports simulation series, Sports Interactive, has received criticism from players who find parts of the game unplayable. Initially, the developers intended to release a new update this week, but due to an unforeseen performance issue, they had to retract their plans.
According to a post by a member of the studio’s community team on Tuesday, November 18, the upcoming update (26.0.6) will include over 200 fixes and improvements, such as adjustments to player wage demands, the ability to set an FPS limit in ‘Preferences’, and modifications to how European coefficient points are granted. The full release of the update is expected on Steam, Epic, and Microsoft Stores later this week.
Despite the initial announcement, on Wednesday, November 19, Sports Interactive confirmed a setback in the release of the update, citing unresolved issues that may affect its rollout. Disappointed fans expressed frustration over the delay and the overall buggy state of FM26, criticizing the lack of readiness and communication from the developers.
Streamer Nerdphonic criticized the decision-making process regarding the game, labeling it as “insane” and pointing out a lack of improvement in communication with players. Reddit users also voiced their disappointment, with one describing the release as terrible and another expressing exhaustion over encountering bugs while playing with FC Barcelona in FM26. The community is questioning Sports Interactive’s ability to address and rectify issues promptly.
In the original announcement on November 18, Sports Interactive mentioned that the console version of the game would receive an update by Friday, November 21, with updates for Touch and Mobile versions scheduled for early next week. Players are eagerly anticipating these updates to address the ongoing issues in the game.
