A tragic incident took the life of David Barral, a former Aviva executive, as his Aston Martin car crashed and caught fire after colliding with a tree near Wetherby in West Yorkshire. The 63-year-old businessman’s family expressed deep sorrow over his passing, remembering him as a remarkable individual. Authorities are investigating the crash and have urged potential witnesses to provide any relevant information.

The accident occurred on the A58 Leeds Road between Bardsey and Collingham when Mr. Barral, driving a grey Aston Martin DBX SUV, lost control shortly after 2pm on a Tuesday. His loved ones shared a heartfelt message, saying, “We are all absolutely devastated at the loss of the most wonderful man. Rest in peace David, we will all miss you so, so much and you will always fill our hearts. We love you.”

Following the crash, images from the scene revealed a significant presence of emergency services and a fallen tree. West Yorkshire Police released a statement identifying David Barral and highlighting his family’s tribute. The authorities are asking for the public’s help, especially seeking dashcam or CCTV footage to aid their investigation.

David Barral had a distinguished career at Aviva Life and Pensions from 1999 to 2015, serving in various senior positions and becoming the CEO for the UK and Ireland in 2011.
