Nicole Chanelle, a party enthusiast, initially dabbled in drug use while socializing but fell into a serious addiction to ketamine. Despite a prior negative experience of being spiked at a rave, she resumed ketamine consumption three years ago, leading to severe consequences. Within a year, she faced physical repercussions as her nose deteriorated, culminating in a chunk falling out, revealing a troubling hole.

Despite the alarming physical manifestations, Nicole continued to consume up to four grams of ketamine daily for two more years until recognizing the urgency to address her addiction. Hailing from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, Nicole’s drug journey transitioned from occasional cocaine use at 14 to a deep reliance on ketamine.

Initially viewed as a recreational drug, ketamine slowly gripped Nicole, escalating her intake until it became a daily habit. Mixing ketamine with cocaine, she spiraled into addiction, using it as a coping mechanism for any emotion or situation. The addictive nature of ketamine became apparent to her after a year, but by then, she struggled to break free from its hold.

Nicole’s turning point came when she experienced a frightening episode, prompting her to seek help and ultimately undergo rehabilitation in India. The physical toll of ketamine abuse became evident when doctors in Turkey revealed the damage to her nose, a cautionary tale she now shares to deter others from risking their health.

Three months into her sobriety journey, Nicole emphasizes the dangers of ketamine, particularly its severe impact on bladder health. She underscores the importance of seeking assistance for addiction, urging individuals not to suffer in silence but to reach out for support.

As Nicole advocates for awareness regarding ketamine’s risks, she reflects on her journey to recovery, acknowledging the challenges and temptations she faces. Despite lingering thoughts of drug use, she remains committed to maintaining her sober lifestyle and avoiding a relapse.

For those grappling with drug addiction, resources like the NHS and Talk to Frank offer guidance and support on seeking help and understanding substance abuse.
