Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have recently expressed their solidarity with Ferrari’s team members and supporters on Instagram, following chairman John Elkann’s suggestion for them to prioritize driving over talking.
In a weekend that saw Ferrari experience contrasting fortunes in motorsport, the team achieved victory in the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships at the World Endurance Championship in Bahrain. Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Antonio Giovinazzi celebrated their triumph with the No. 50 car.
However, the Brazilian Grand Prix turned disastrous for Ferrari. Hamilton’s race was cut short when his front wing collided with Franco Colapinto’s Alpine, causing significant damage to his SF-25 car. Leclerc also faced misfortune and failed to finish the race after an incident involving Oscar Piastri and Kimi Antonelli.
As a result of the double retirement, Ferrari now sits fourth in the World Championship standings, trailing Mercedes by 26 points and Red Bull by four. Elkann’s response to the situation was firm, emphasizing the need for unity within the team for success.
Hamilton posted on Instagram, acknowledging the disappointing outcome in Brazil but expressing determination to persevere and support his team. Leclerc echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the importance of unity in overcoming challenges in the remaining races of the season.
Fans of Formula 1 can now catch all the action live with Sky’s new Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, offering access to practice sessions, qualifying rounds, and races, along with a host of other channels and free subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.
The drivers’ responses indirectly addressed Elkann’s remarks, showcasing their commitment to pushing forward despite setbacks and emphasizing the importance of teamwork in achieving success in the upcoming races.
