In Japan, a 75-year-old woman from Ibaraki Prefecture turned herself in to the authorities on Tuesday, September 23, after storing her daughter’s body in a freezer for 20 years. The woman, Keiko Mori, had been living alone since her husband’s passing a few weeks earlier. She confessed to keeping her daughter, born in 1975, in the freezer.
Upon investigating her residence in Tokyo, police discovered the decomposed body of a woman in the freezer, wearing only a T-shirt and underwear. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Mori was arrested on suspicion of abandoning a body.
Mori explained that she bought the freezer to contain the strong odor of her daughter’s decomposing body. She did not disclose the circumstances of her daughter’s death or her involvement in it. It was revealed that the deceased daughter was not her only child, but the exact number of children remains undisclosed.
