Jet2 is preparing to introduce three new flight routes to a popular city break destination known for its medieval old town and festive Christmas market.

Starting on November 27, Jet2 will operate flights from Edinburgh to Tallinn, followed by flights from Manchester and Birmingham on November 28. These seasonal flights offer travelers the opportunity to experience Tallinn at its most enchanting, with the city often covered in snow leading up to Christmas. Tickets for flights in December are available for as low as £30.

Tallinn, described by Jet2 as a “medieval fairytale,” boasts a UNESCO-listed old town featuring historic squares, cobblestone streets, and vibrant architecture. Visitors can leisurely explore the well-preserved ancient buildings and indulge in local delights like strong coffee and sweet pirukad pastries.

During the winter season, Tallinn’s old town transforms into a picturesque wonderland adorned with Christmas lights and occasional snowfall. The renowned Christmas Market opens on November 21 and continues until December 28, offering traditional crafts, amusement rides, and a charming land train festooned with fairy lights.

At the heart of the market square stands what locals claim to be Europe’s first Christmas tree, a tradition dating back to 1441. After strolling through the square, visitors can savor festive treats such as gingerbread, black pudding, cabbage, and the popular verivorst sausage.

Tallinn’s walkable city center showcases remarkable landmarks, including the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral with its distinctive onion domes and the Toompea Castle, now used by Estonia’s parliament. Kadriorg Palace, founded by Tsar Peter I in 1718, offers a baroque masterpiece housing the Kadriorg Art Museum amid stunning parkland views stretching to the Baltic Sea.

Numerous accommodation options are available in Tallinn’s old town, such as the highly-rated Nunne Boutique Hotel offering twin rooms starting at £70 per night with access to spa facilities. The characterful Merchants House Hotel provides 36 rooms and suites near the city’s main attractions, featuring economy double rooms for just £66 per night.
