Exploring new horizons, embracing different cultures, and trying out unfamiliar cuisines are some of the joys of traveling abroad. However, ordering from a foreign menu can sometimes lead to encountering unexpected and puzzling dishes.

In the pursuit of culinary adventure, our team of well-traveled journalists shared their memorable experiences with foreign foods.

To kick things off, I recall trying braised jellyfish with ‘century egg’ for a challenging breakfast in China, whole baby frogs in Thailand, guinea pig in Peru, and rattlesnake with bison testicles in Texas. Surprisingly, the rattlesnake tasted similar to chicken…
