Robert MacIntyre found himself battling the temptation to destroy his golf clubs after a disappointing performance at the BMW Championship. The Scottish golfer had a promising four-shot lead going into the final day of the tournament in Maryland, aiming for his third PGA Tour victory.

However, MacIntyre struggled from the start with early bogeys and a further drop on the fifth hole, allowing Scottie Scheffler to take the lead by the seventh hole and eventually win by a two-shot margin.

Expressing his frustrations after the round, MacIntyre admitted to a poor start and feeling puzzled about his game. Despite his disappointment and desire to damage his clubs, MacIntyre’s overall performance was enough to secure a place on Team Europe for the upcoming Ryder Cup and a substantial prize fund of £1.6m, joining the likes of Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood.

On the other hand, Scottie Scheffler also secured his place in the Ryder Cup team for the USA alongside other notable players. Looking ahead to the Ryder Cup, set to begin on September 26 at Bethpage Black in New York, MacIntyre highlighted his consistency, attributing it to his intense focus and dedication to every shot.

The upcoming Ryder Cup will see Team Europe defending their title against Team USA, with Europe looking to reclaim victory on American soil after their last success in 2012. The competition promises to be exciting, with both teams gearing up for a fierce battle on the golf course.
